My first month in Tulane's Pharmacology program has gone by so quickly. Every day, I wake up excited to learn. Between engaging coursework, supportive classmates and professors, this experience has exceeded my expectations in every way. Each course offers something new, and I look forward to every class. Whether it's learning about drug interactions, pharmacokinetics, or the molecular biology of disease, every subject is relevant and connected to real-world applications. 

One of the most exciting aspects of my journey in the Pharmacology program has been the opportunity to deepen my understanding of cellular mechanisms. The intricate processes that occur within our cells and their influence on drug efficacy are truly fascinating. The idea that a single molecular pathway can have such a profound impact on the entire body is mind-blowing. Collaborating with peers on discussions and projects has been incredibly rewarding. It’s amazing to be a part of a community where everyone shares a passion for understanding science and improving human health. I can't wait to explore more of these intricate details in future classes, and my anticipation for what's to come fuels my enthusiasm for the program. This first month has solidified my excitement to contributing to the field of pharmacology.

Service Hours: 6; Cumulative Hours: 6 I had the pleasure of volunteering at the Po-Boy Festival with Catherine and Faisal! We were stationed at the merchandise booth and spent time selling t-shirts, hats, sweatshirts, and posters to an enthusiastic crowd of locals and visitors. What made this experience so rewarding was the incredible sense of community and the chance to engage with people who share a love for New Orleans and its vibrant culture. Each interaction brought something unique. There were stories from visitors who had traveled to be here for the Taylor Swift concert, locals reminiscing about past festivals, and countless smiles. Service Hours: 6; Total Hours: 12 Catherine and I volunteered at Second Harvest Food Bank assisting with packaging and sorting food. The organization is very involved with food access, advocation, and disaster response. During our shift we worked alongside a few other volunteers and packed over 6 pallets of food boxes which will soon be sent out for delivery. The volunteers and staff were incredibly welcoming and fun to work with, making our time there not only productive but also extremely delightful. The process of packing the food was very organized and super efficient. Every donation had a purpose, and absolutely nothing was gone to waste. As we worked, we learned more about how Second Harvest operates and how far-reaching their efforts are.
